The island is lying a bit by itself in the Hardanger Fjord.
You get there by a ferry that takes you to/from Gjermundshamn or Årsnes several times a day.
The holiday houses belonging are lovely and peacefully located on the eastern part of the islandAll 4 houses are by the sea, so you may take a bath right by the house or at the public beach.
The site is friendly to children and also equipped with playing apparatus like a swing and a springboard.
From the cottages you have a magnificent view towards a couple of waterfalls, that, depending on weater, appear large or small.
Dog are not allowed due to a farm in the vicinity.
This area has an abundance of blackberry bushes, and neither the quantity nor the quality will disappoint you!

On the island Varaldsøy to the cottage
From the ferry landing you follow the asphalt main road uphill.
After about 1,5 km you'll find an exit to the left that would take to the Church of Varaldsøy and right to Gjuvsland. Take right towards Gjuvsland. About 1 km further there is a second exit left to Øyerhamn. Hold right uphill.
At the third exit Gjuvsland is to the right and straight ahead to Haukanes. Here you go straight ahead along the gravel road towards Haukanes. After about 1,5 – 2 km you'll go through a small community called Fjellgardane. Follow the road to its highest point. From there it goes downhill to the fjord again and Åkre eventually on an asphalt road. Where the asphalt ends you continue 3-400 m on gravel road to our white house on the right of the road (2. door). From there we'll show you the rest of the way.

This beautiful waterfalls is located directly opposite to the vacation homes.
If it is silent at night and the wind comes from north east you can even listen to the falling water.
To go there with a boat is a wonderful experience.
